FONTANA, CA – Fontana Unified School District (FUSD) earned multiple top honors from the California School Public Relations Association (CalSPRA), including three Awards of Excellence, recognizing the District’s high-impact outreach efforts that elevate student and District successes and strengthen connections with the community.

CalSPRA’s Awards of Excellence represent the organization’s highest level of recognition, honoring outstanding work in school communications across California. The awards highlight Fontana Unified’s ability to deliver impactful messaging while building trust and fostering strong community relationships.

Fontana Unified received an Award of Excellence in the Comprehensive Program or Campaign category for its Bond Measure I campaign, a strategic effort to inform and engage voters around a $408 million school construction bond. The campaign outlined key priorities including Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics lab modernization, infrastructure upgrades, and expanded college and career readiness programs, ensuring families and community members were equipped to make informed decisions about the District’s future.

Fontana Unified also earned an Award of Excellence in the Tactical News Release category for announcing the renaming of O’Day Short Elementary School, honoring a significant chapter in Fontana’s history. The release highlighted student-led advocacy at its core, elevating the voice and action of the student who led the effort while reinforcing the District’s commitment to empowering student voices to create meaningful change.

Additionally, the District received an Award of Excellence in the Tactical Social Media category for its “Stories that Inspire” series, which leveraged social media platforms to consistently highlight student achievement, community partnerships, and Districtwide successes. Since 2020, Fontana Unified’s social media presence has grown significantly, strengthening engagement and reinforcing the District’s identity through consistent, authentic storytelling and connecting with its community members by providing meaningful updates that reflect the voices of the District.

In addition to its top honors, Fontana Unified earned several Awards of Merit, recognizing excellence across a range of communications efforts, including crisis communication and response, video storytelling, and financial communications.

The Awards of Merit recognized the District’s:

·       Crisis Communication and Response Plan

·       2025 Graduation Celebration video series

·       Student Board Member recruitment video, and

·       Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) informational presentation video

“Our communications efforts are rooted in a simple goal: to ensure our students, families, and community are informed, connected, and inspired,” Superintendent Miki R. Inbody said. “These recognitions reflect the intentional work happening across our District to share meaningful stories, build trust, and highlight the incredible achievements of our students and staff.”
