UPLAND – Upland Unified School District will honor the dedication and impact of its employees this spring through appreciation and Board recognition, highlighting the vital role staff play in supporting student success.

At its April 14 meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously adopted resolutions recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week from May 4–8 and Classified Employee Appreciation Week from May 18–22. These observances recognize the collective contributions of certificated, classified, confidential, and management staff across the District.

District personnel will be providing staff with thoughtful gestures of appreciation in recognition of their daily commitment to students and families.

“Each and every member of our Upland Unified team plays an essential role in creating supportive, engaging learning environments for our students,” Superintendent Dr. Lynn Carmen Day said. “From the classroom to the front office, from maintenance to nutrition services, our staff’s dedication, talent, and care make a lasting difference in the lives of the students and families we serve.”

The District will also honor 24 retiring employees at the May 12 Board of Trustees meeting. Together, this year’s retirees represent an extraordinary 630 years of combined service to Upland Unified. Among them, three teachers will be recognized as the longest-serving retirees, each contributing 39 years to the District.

Retirees will be celebrated with a formal presentation, messages from District leadership, and commemorative gifts, including a plaque and a booklet recognizing their years of service and lasting contributions.

“Upland Unified is committed to recognizing the people who bring its mission of Creating Excellence to life each day and expresses gratitude for the lasting impact of both current and retiring staff,” Carmen Day said. “ We continue to build on the strong foundation laid by those who came before us, and our retirees will always remain an important part of that legacy.”
