DETAILS: The Broadway Bound Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory is a partnership between Hacienda La Puente Unified’s Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) and Career Technical Education departments. The Conservatory provides industry-level professional arts experiences where students engage in multimedia disciplines that lead to three full performances with students working on stage, backstage, and in the orchestra pit. Through the program, students work alongside HLPUSD arts teachers, mentors, and industry professionals to achieve a collective goal.

The Theatre Conservatory is the vision of Dr. Benita Scheckel, the District’s VAPA Coordinator who joined in 2023. Over the last year, the program has grown into a unique opportunity for students and staff, bringing together passionate, like-minded, and talented learners, educators, and creators.
