Fontana Unified to Recognize Student Excellence, Explore Historical Legacies During Black History Month Celebration
WHAT: Fontana Unified School District will celebrate Black History Month with a special event designed to recognize the achievements and contributions of Black students and culture. The event is hosted in collaboration with the District African American Parent Advisory Council (DAAPAC) and will feature culturally enriching entertainment, art displays, a collection of moving historical artifacts, and an awards ceremony recognizing District students for their academic and artistic excellence.

WHERE: Fontana High School
9453 Citrus Ave., Fontana
DETAILS: Dr. Hardy Brown – a local non-profit leader and advocate for diversity and education – will attend the event along with his collection of historical artifacts. Brown is the curator and storyteller of the major collection of rare documents that help people understand and explore the institution of slavery through civil rights in America.
Fontana Unified provides students with opportunities to explore the contributions, perspectives, and stories of people from diverse backgrounds year-round. The District hosts events annually, such as the annual Hispanic Heritage and Black History month celebrations, that focus on honoring and sharing the rich diversity of cultures within its community.
