Lynwood Unified to Celebrate Graduates During Ceremonies on June 13-15
WHAT: Lynwood Unified will celebrate the graduating Class of 2022 during in-person ceremonies that tout the achievement of its resilient senior class. Nearly 850 seniors are being honored this year during outdoor festivities at Lynwood Unified’s District Field that will include Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite and the Board of Education.
LUSD saw a successful return to in-person commencements last year after being previously limited to virtual events due to COVID-19 safety measures. With a full year of onsite instruction, this year’s class thrived while garnering special honors. Some of the top seniors and stories are listed below:
Lynwood High School – 414 graduates
Chris Gutierrez, Valedictorian, Dell Scholar; 4.66 GPA, attending Stanford University
Denisse Ortiz, Salutatorian, Lynwood Rotary Vocational Scholar; 4.54 GPA, attending USC
Kailyn Canez, 4.53 GPA, attending UCLA
Firebaugh High School – 295 graduates
Michelle Lopez, Valedictorian, Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation Scholar; 4.64 GPA, attending Stanford University
Luis Sanchez, Salutatorian, Amazon.com Future Engineers Scholar; 4.59 GPA, attending Stanford University
Evelyn Miguel Vargas, Edison STEM Scholar; 4.48 GPA, attending USC
WHEN: 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 for Lynwood High School; 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 for Firebaugh High School.
WHERE: Lynwood Imperial Campus Stadium, 4050 E. Imperial Hwy., Lynwood
MORE: The Lynwood Community Adult School will honor 44 seniors on June 10 at the Lynwood Imperial Campus Gymnasium, while Vista and Pathway High School will celebrate around 85 graduates on June 13 at the Lynwood Imperial Campus Stadium.
