BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Unified’s Adult and Community Education (BPACE) is offering free enrollment for the first quarter of a new Home Care Aide Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, which trains students in providing basic at-home care and support to clients.

For a limited time, BPACE is waiving both the course fee for the first quarter and the Student Accident Insurance fee – a standard requirement for all students enrolled in CTE courses.
The 40-hour course will focus on safety principles for client mobility and transport, personal hygiene care, home safety management and nutrition.

Additional course topics include training from both a pharmacy technician and a medical assistant on other health-related services. Methods for meeting the social and psychological needs of the client are also integrated throughout the program.

The first session begins on Monday, Sept. 27, and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday. The course concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

“The Home Care Aide program is an important course to add to the list of BPACE offerings, and the District is proud to meet the demand for this increasingly popular, and vital, profession,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said.

After completing the required theory and hands-on practice hours, students will qualify to apply for the California State Department of Social Services Home Care Aide license and be eligible for employment.
