Lynwood – Lynwood Unified will provide Rosa Parks Elementary students with brand new iPads, laptops, robotic kits, and other learning tools after receiving a $25,000 grant from the American Honda Foundation to enhance technology education.

The new technology will allow students to continue reaching success both inside the classroom and out. The District’s students and educators relied heavily on technology to stay connected during school closures. The new devices provided by the Honda grant can equip young learners to continue thriving through distance learning if necessary.

“We want to ensure students can achieve their goals without limitations on their learning tools,” LUSD Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite said. “This grant will provide students with the best possible learning devices to advance their growth.”

The electronics arriving at Rosa Parks will include Chromebooks, iPads, and a new 3D printer. The robotic kits will allow the students to experience the magic of science and engineering through building and interacting with robots. Rosa Parks enjoys a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program that prepares young people to become 21st Century leaders.

“Our STEM education programs are a foundation for inspiring students at Rosa Parks and introducing them to possibilities for their future,” Rosa Parks Principal Dawn Green said. “We are grateful to the American Honda Foundation for supporting our children and their dreams.”

The American Honda Foundation shares the District’s vision of investing in future leaders and supports youth education with a specific focus on STEM subjects. The Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation worked to help the District secure the grant and partnership.

“This investment in our students will continue to build their confidence and allow them to move out into the world with fearlessness,” LUSD Board President Gary Hardie Jr. said. “We will continue to give students the best tools to succeed and watch them respond with exceptional outcomes.”
