Buena Park School District to Highlight Visual, Performing Arts with Digital Showcase
BUENA PARK, CA – Corey School will allow students to showcase their musical, artistic, acting and even martial arts talents to the Buena Park School District public on Wednesday, May 20 during its inaugural Virtual Community Share.
Corey School’s Community Share was launched as a live talent show in 2018-19 to boost interest in visual and performing arts. Since Buena Park School District is practicing distance learning through the end of the school year, the Corey School leaders decided to move the popular community event to online.
“The Virtual Community Share is a fun outlet for our students to express their love and passion for visual and performing arts,” Corey School Principal LaRonda Ortega said. “Corey School’s Passion Program centers on visual and performing arts, and this is a great way to continue that focus during distance learning.”
Students may submit photos and videos of themselves performing their talents through Friday, May 15 to Corey School Program Specialist Jay Beckelheimer at JBeckelheimer@bpsd.us.
“The Virtual Community Share is an opportunity for students to connect with their friends and peers and it’s the perfect way for them to exercise their creative side,” Beckelheimer said.
Beckelheimer said he has already received photos and videos of students playing musical instruments, dancing Folklorico and even completing paintings.
“We are so proud of our students for committing to their enthusiasm for visual and performing arts with this virtual event,” Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes said. “We have so much talent in our District and this event is just one of many ways we’re continuing to encourage our students during distance learning.”
