WHAT: After 10 weeks of lessons learning the merengue, waltz, swing, fox trot, salsa and tango, the top five boys and five girls from each Santa Monica-Malibu elementary school will be competing against each other in the first District-wide Ballroom Madness Competition.

The competition will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Barnum Hall at Santa Monica High School.

The event, funded by the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation and a grant received from the Los Angeles County Arts for All program, will be judged on a point-system with the top teams awarded first, second and third place trophies. All fifth graders, with their teachers and principals, will be in attendance to cheer on their school’s dance teams.
