WHAT: Engaging and passionate, children’s author Adriene Madden will share her latest book, The Magic Maple Tree, with the students of Juan Cabrillo Elementary School. The story came to life after Madden’s daughter mused over the joys of a tree that grew donuts. The resulting story represents a family collaboration.

As part of Madden’s visit, she will read the book and engage students from kindergarten through fifth grade in an interactive discussion of the creative writing process.

Madden, who lives in California with her four children, husband, three chickens, rooster and pig, will donate part of the proceeds from The Magic Maple Tree to No Kid Hungry, a program that combats childhood hunger in Los Angeles.
