  • Nestled in the San Gabriel foothills, Monrovia Unified School District is an award-winning district, offering world-class schools and programs for students of all ages. Five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one comprehensive high school provide the core K-12 program. These are augmented by an Early Learning Center (child development and pre-K programs), an alternative campus (independent study, home schooling and continuation high school), and a large, active adult school.

Whittier Union Girls Encouraged to Dream as Part of Soroptimist Program

The Soroptimist International of Whittier on Jan. 26 launched its “Dream It, Be It” career development and female empowerment program for a group of girls at Frontier High School, providing the teens access to professional role models, career education and the resources needed to reach their full potential. Over the next six weeks, the women’s social and economic empowerment club will work in partnership with girls in small groups and explore topics such as career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success and how to move forward after setbacks or failures. Clifton Middle School Named to Schools to Watch List

Monrovia Unified’s Clifton Middle School has earned a spot on the 2017 California Schools to Watch list through a mix of programs that support struggling students, offer enrichment and leadership opportunities, and integrate special education students into regular classes. The California Schools to Watch – Taking Center Stage Program is a partnership among the California League of Middle Schools, state Department of Education and a group of education partners dedicated to promoting excellence by evaluating each middle school on academics, developmental responsiveness, social equity and organizational structures and processes. Monrovia Unified, University of La Verne Pact Guarantees Admission

Monrovia Unified began a partnership with the University of La Verne on Jan. 19 that guarantees admission into the private university for all qualifying District students. Monrovia is one of 12 public school districts to join ULV’s Partnership for Access to College Education (PACE. Qualifying seniors who apply for the fall 2017 term will reap the benefits of ULV college preparatory courses, application fee waivers and financial aid of at least $10,000 per year, among other resources.
