WHITTIER – Whittier High School will host a Celebration of Life memorial service in honor of one of its most distinguished Cardinals, William C. Gordon, a Class of 1955 graduate and donor to the campus who passed away in March. He was 82.

The celebration will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29 in the William C. Gordon Library at Whittier High School, 12417 Philadelphia St., Whittier.

Gordon was a renowned author, attorney and an avid reader who donated dozens of novels and more than $230,000 to Whittier High School to fund technology upgrades, campus murals and renovate the library with new furniture, paint and an Alumni Hall of Fame showcase. The facility was dedicated the William C. Gordon Library in 2015.

As a student at Whittier High, Gordon was a senator and Associated Student Body president. He was also awarded the Cardinal Key, Whittier High’s most prized graduation award for students who embody citizenship, leadership, achievement, self-respect and service to the community (CLASS).

The memorial will feature appetizers, a slideshow of Gordon’s life and guest speakers, including family members, friend and members of the Whittier High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame, to which he was inducted in 2009.
