The San Ysidro School District has created a communications survey to help determine how to most effectively provide information to its parent community.

Copies of the survey were delivered to San Ysidro households on Oct. 13; an online version was made accessible from the District’s webpage at www.sysd.k12.ca.us on the same day.

“Learning how to most effectively and efficiently communicate with parents has become a top priority for the District,” SYSD Superintendent Dr. Julio Fonseca said. “The results from this survey will allow us to streamline how we communicate with parents, both at the District and individual-school level so we can provide our students and their families with the most up-to-date information possible.”

The survey asks 11 questions about a household’s preferred methods of communication, including questions about e-mail, voicemail and social media options such as Facebook and Twitter. It also gathers information about ParentVUE, a website that offers secure, private access to school and student information, including assignments, grades, attendance history and school calendars.

“We encourage all parents and guardians to set aside a few minutes and complete the survey so we can connect with them more effectively,” SYSD Board President Antonio Martinez said. “The more aware they are about our events, program offerings and services, the better we will be able to serve our students.”

The District will continue to accept survey results until mid-November. Completed forms can be mailed or dropped off at the District office, located at 4350 Otay Mesa Road, San Ysidro, CA 92173.
