WHAT: Del Mar High School students will put their research skills to the test at the 2019 History Day LA competition, which challenges students to examine history through extensive original research and creatively express their findings before a panel of historians and educators.

DETAILS: History Day LA engages elementary, middle school and high school students from Los Angeles County to present individual and group projects related to the 2019 theme, “Triumph and Tragedy in History.” Projects may be submitted as performances, research papers, websites, exhibits or documentary films.

Del Mar High, a 2018 Model Continuation High School, is the only continuation school that competes in History Day L.A. each year.

Seven Del Mar students will present two group performances and two historical boards focused on redlining, the practice of redrawing voting boundaries based o¬¬n race.

The top three finalists in each county competition category will qualify for the National History Day California state finals competition, held May 10-12.
