MONTEBELLO – The Montebello Unified School District hosted its fifth annual Classified Employee Conference at Montebello Intermediate School on May 21 where classified employees learned how to elevate their potential, develop a healthy work-life balance and positively impact students.

“We provide opportunities and training for our classified staff to improve because our students and community deserve nothing but the best,” Montebello Unified Board President Benjamin Cárdenas said. “The goal is that those who attended this conference walked away with something they can incorporate into their daily life.”

The workshop topics at this year’s conference included: how passion drives professional growth, paths to a promotion, explaining payroll deductions and retirement benefits, technology innovation, healthy eating, retirement planning, workplace safety, the benefits of being a member of the California Schools Employees Association and how to use meditation, posture and laughter to relieve stress.

Montebello Unified’s Personnel Commission, led by Chairman Alberto Perez and Vice Chairman Charles E. Pell, and its staff are committed to providing district employees with the tools and assistance they need to develop a passion for their work.

“We put tremendous value on our classified employees and want to provide whatever guidance we can to help them advance in their careers and lead healthy lives,” Superintendent Susanna Contreras Smith said.
