BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Unified schools are recognizing school counselors from Feb. 4 through Friday, Feb. 8 for their support of student academic success and socio-emotional well-being.

Activities and assemblies across the District will be held to highlight the tremendous impact counselors have on students and learning environments. The events are aligned with National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).

“School counselors help students connect the work being done in the classroom with the personal growth taking place outside the classroom to ensure they are succeeding academically, socially and emotionally,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “Baldwin Park Unified counselors deserve all the recognition in the world for helping our students and shaping them to be well-rounded individuals.”

From the middle to high school level, counselors examine student strengths, interests and areas of growth, and support the social and emotional development. Counselors also work alongside educators to remove barriers from learning and form an educational system that encourages achievement.

ASCA is a nonprofit organization that assists school counselors as they guide students toward academic and personal success.
