BALDWIN PARK – Ashlie Chaidez from Baldwin Park High School, Anthony Anibal Delgado from Sierra Vista High School and G Negrete from North Park Continuation High School are the appointed student board members for the 2018-19 academic year.

Chaidez, a senior at Baldwin Park High School, started her education at Baldwin Park Unified’s Ernest R. Geddes Elementary School where she enrolled in the Dual Language Program.

Last year, Chaidez was recognized as the 2018 High School Student of the Year by the National Association of Bilingual Educators for an essay on how her language skills will boost her effectiveness as a social worker. She was recognized during the organization’s annual conference in March.

Delgado, a senior at Sierra Vista High School, has attended Baldwin Park Unified schools since he was 4 years old, including Foster Elementary and Sierra Vista Junior High School.

Delgado is a member of the American Cancer Society and he served as ASB Class Vice President during his junior year. He plans to attend a college on the East Coast to study nursing and become a registered nurse.

Negrete, a senior at North Park Continuation High School, has been a Baldwin Park Unified student since 2012, attending Tracy Elementary School, Sierra Vista Junior High School and Sierra Vista High School.

After he graduates, Negrete plans to attend Mt. San Antonio College before transferring to a university to pursue a degree in business. With his qualification, he hopes to open a franchise in the food industry.

“These exemplary students have shown a strong commitment to their education and are engaged leaders on their school campuses,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “They know what it means to never stop learning and improving, and they will be welcome additions to our Board of Education.”
