BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park High School hosted its annual College and Career Fair on March 28, giving students an opportunity to gain information and advice from college recruiters, potential employers and the armed services.

Participating colleges, including Citrus College, Pasadena City College (PCC), Rio Hondo, Mt. SAC and Cal State Fullerton, shared space with employers from the banking, landscaping, healthcare, retail, fashion, real estate, construction and aerospace industries.

Armed service recruiters from the Army, Navy and Marines pitched their benefits alongside government representatives from the Los Angeles County Probation Department and the California Department of Rehabilitation.

Baldwin Park High School senior Sierra Whitter first attended the College and Career Fair as a junior, taking advantage of the multitude of resources available. Whitter plans to enroll at PCC.

“If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask the representatives,” Whitter said. “Whether you are trying to find out about scholarships or employment, the reps are here. Don’t hold back.”

Mt. SAC outreach specialist and Baldwin Park High alum Cynthia Orozco conducts regular workshops at the school throughout the year. Orozco had a busy morning fielding questions from many of the 150 students she works with.

“The students have so many questions today,” Orozco said. “They want to know when our Summer Bridge program begins, when school starts, how they can get free tuition. I’m very proud of them.”
