WHAT: U.S. Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon will join the Lynwood Unified Board of Education and community members to celebrate Roosevelt Elementary School’s Bronze Award for work in its Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.

Barragán and Rendon will each speak at the event along with Lynwood Unified Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite. Roosevelt’s PBIS coach, Domitila Aguilar-Millan, will speak to the school’s implementation of the program while a group of Roosevelt’s Think Together students will perform a dance routine.

Roosevelt has found success in the program through a variety of initiatives, including a Bear Bucks reward system that incentivizes students to make good decisions; a PBIS student store, a book of the month program, parent development workshops and a homework club.
