WHAT: McKinley Elementary School will host a Dual Immersion Family Evening to highlight its Spanish language immersion program for parents and community members who want to know more about this educational opportunity. The informational session will cover the purpose, practices and benefits of the program, as well as the enrollment process and requirements.

McKinley’s dual immersion program, which currently serves kindergarten through second-grade students, affords native English speaking students and English learners to gain intercultural understanding, while learning in a rigorous, standards-based academic environment. The program is slated to complete schoolwide implementation by the 2019-20 academic year

DETAILS: Parents will have the opportunity to meet McKinley Elementary Principal Jim Symonds, enjoy demonstrations from current students and learn about the research supporting dual language immersion from program instructors.

Enrollment packets and inter-district transfer applications will be available at the meeting. The event is open to residents of San Gabriel and neighboring communities.
