MONROVIA – Monrovia Unified’s Plymouth Elementary School has opened enrollment for its innovative Code to the Future, Mandarin dual-language immersion programs and Spring Kindergarten.

Students in Plymouth’s cutting-edge Code to the Future computer science courses program robots using sophisticated block coding. Code to the Future is integrated into all classrooms from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade.

Plymouth also offers a dual-language Mandarin immersion program for students in transitional kindergarten through second grade. Dual-language programs have been shown to boost academic performance, increase understanding of diverse cultures and prepare students for the global job market.

Mandarin is the most-spoken language in the world, followed by Spanish and English.

Transitional kindergarten provides a bridge to the more structured kindergarten setting and is for children who turn 5 between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2. Kindergarten is for children who turn 5 by Sept. 1.

Spring Kindergarten enrollment for the 2016-17 school year is also underway.

Spring Kindergarten gives students a leg up before entering kindergarten, laying the foundation for letter recognition and sounds, number recognition and numerical concepts. This program is for students who turn 5 between Dec. 3 and March 31 and runs from February through June 2017.

These programs are open to any student in the San Gabriel Valley and beyond, and registration will run through the end of summer.
