Monrovia High Students Partner with Professionals on ‘King Lear’
WHAT: Twenty-three drama students from Monrovia High School are partnering with Pasadena theater company A Noise Within to bring the students’ rendition of William Shakespeare’s “King Lear” to life.
Monrovia High students observed a professional production meeting and had the opportunity to sit in while A Noise Within conducted the first table read for its own “King Lear” production.
Monrovia High students will be able to use A Noise Within’s “King Lear” set and stage in Pasadena when they perform their own take on the classical play.
This is the first time A Noise Within has partnered with a high school theater group, establishing a relationship of training and mentorship, and providing an opportunity for students to perform on a professional stage.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, A Noise Within is a professional theater company based out of Pasadena that focuses on classical productions. Using a rotating repertory model, A Noise Within hosts three classical plays each season and swaps out production sets every few days.
