WHAT: Lake Marie Elementary School students will walk, jog and run their way toward a healthier lifestyle while raising funds for technology during the second annual “Color Me Fun Run.”

The color run will feature transitional kindergarten (TK) through sixth-grade students running through obstacle courses while being splashed with every color of the rainbow by parents and teachers for each lap they complete. Organizers hope to raise $10,000 for new technology from the community fitness fundraiser.

The color run will immediately follow the school’s “Lunch with a Loved One” family picnic, where families are invited to bring lunch, a blanket and a book to embrace literacy.

TK/Kinder through second-grade students (12:15 to 1 p.m.)
Third- through sixth-grade students (1 to 1:45 p.m.)

DETAILS: Lake Marie’s color run is a fun, fitness-orientated event where participants will walk or jog around a colorful course, getting squirted with a liquid color at each checkpoint. Prizes will be awarded to students who raise $25 or more. Prizes include goodie bags, a raffle to be “Principal for the Day” and gift cards, among other items. Principal Lisa Palomino will be the subject of a pie-throwing contest should the school meet its goal of raising $10,000 for technology. The event will begin after the school’s family picnic for mothers, father and extended family members during lunchtime, which will run from 11:15 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
