WHEN: 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2

WHERE: Smythe Elementary School, 1880 Smythe Ave., San Ysidro

WHY: Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association, the annual Read Across America campaign celebrates the joys of reading and honors Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a week of literary activities.

District employees, governing board members, teachers and other community members are also expected to attend and read to students, who will be dressed up in their best Dr. Seuss fashion.
