WHAT: Jurupa Hills High School sophomores will emulate aspiring entrepreneurs as they make formal presentations on innovative products they would like venture capitalists to finance during the inaugural JHHS “Sparta Tank,” an educational classroom project based on the hit television program, “Shark Tank.”

WHEN: Tuesday, March 14; Presentations begin at 8:30 a.m.; Winners will be announced Wednesday, March 15

WHERE: Jurupa Hills High School Dance Room, 10700 Oleander Ave., Fontana 92337

DETAILS: In February, 500 Jurupa Hills 10th-graders were asked to create products, then research and draft business proposals – including a product description, budget and brochure – they could send to an existing company or individual. Seventeen finalists will pitch their inventions to a panel of judges consisting of Jurupa Hills’ teachers and staff.

Among the inventions being considered for the grand prize are a miracle comb, a “smart” 5-Star spiral notebook, jewelry that can detect if a drink has been spiked, fashionable clothing that adheres to school dress codes, a multi-condiment blaster, inflatable clothing for the disabled, and a cardboard imagination box for toddlers.

Student winners will receive gift cards from local business establishments. For more information, contact teacher Galen Shotts, (909) 357-6300, ext. 16308.
