EAST WHITTIER – East Whittier City School District was named to the 2015 District Honor Roll by the Campaign for Business & Education Excellence (CBEE) for the fourth consecutive year as one of the state’s 15 higher-performing districts, where student achievement outpaces comparable schools.

The District accepted the 2015 award and an accompanying banner at its Sept. 12 board meeting.

“Once again, I’m overwhelmed by this prestigious achievement that was made possible by the hard work of our students, teachers, parents and support staff,” East Whittier City School District Superintendent Mary Branca said. “The District will continue its mission of providing students with the opportunity to excel in and out of the classroom.”

The District Honor Roll is one element of CBEE’s comprehensive Honor Roll, which includes individual public K-8 and high schools that demonstrate consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time and reduction in achievement gaps.

“This wonderful recognition truly validates our district’s commitment to closing the achievement gap at all of our school sites,” Gabriela Tavitian, assistant superintendent of educational support services said.
