BALDWIN PARK – Parents of students who reside within the Baldwin Park Unified School District boundaries may enroll their children in any District elementary school during the annual open enrollment period, which runs from Tuesday, Nov. 1 through Monday, Dec. 5.

The District offers a transitional kindergarten program to children whose fifth birthday lies between Sept. 1 and Dec. 2.

The selection process shall be conducted immediately after the application period, and enrollment in a school of choice shall be determined by lottery (NOT on a first-come first-served basis).

A waiting list shall be established to indicate the order in which applicants may be accepted as more openings occur. Late applicants shall be added to the waiting list by subsequent lotteries.

Parents can pick up an open enrollment application at their child’s current school beginning Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Applicants will be notified by the schools as to whether their applications were approved, denied, or placed on a waiting list.

Once a student is promoted from an elementary school or from eight to ninth grade, the student is assigned to the original school of residence. Transportation is the responsibility of the student’s family. California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Eligibility Rules apply to ninth- through 12th-grade students.
