WHAT: Powell Elementary School students will celebrate Mexican culture during the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, during which three classes will showcase traditional folkloric dance routines in the main campus quad area.

Parents and teachers have teamed up to host the Cinco De Mayo celebration, which will feature entertainment, traditional Mexican food and games for the community. The Cinco de Mayo Festival is an example of Powell Elementary’s goal of emphasizing the importance of culture and art in education.

In addition, Hodge Elementary will also host a Cinco de Mayo celebration for the local community, which will include folkloric dance, music, games and raffles.
