WHAT: Thomas Valles, a member of the 1987 state-champion McFarland High cross-country track team featured in Disney’s “McFarland USA,” will speak to students at Willow Elementary School’s Movie Night about his experiences. Today, Valles coaches the McFarland Track Club in addition to working as a correctional officer at Kern Valley State Prison.

The 2015 movie, which will be the evening’s featured film, depicts the struggles and triumph of an all-Latino boys’ cross-country team from a small farming community in Kern County. It stars Kevin Costner.

WHEN: Friday, March 3; Doors open at 6 p.m.; the movie starts at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Willow Elementary School Auditorium, 226 Willow Road, San Ysidro

DETAILS: San Ysidro School District hosts Movie Night in support of the San Ysidro Education Committee. The movie is being presented at no charge, but snacks and refreshments will be available for sale.

Seating is limited.

The event is supported by the Willow Elementary PTA, San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce, San Diego County Credit Union and San Ysidro Swap Meet.
